We are looking for a proactive and dedicated individual to join our team as a Planning Engineer – Mechanical. In this pivotal role, you will enable the seamless delivery of mechanical engineering projects through meticulous planning, coordination, and effective communication. Your selling skills, technical expertise, and problem-solving ability will be essential in driving both project and business success.

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Planning, Coordination & Project Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules for mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery in line with company objectives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and sales teams to communicate project requirements and align priorities throughout the lifecycle of each project.
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to gather technical requirements, clarify project specifications, and secure approvals as needed.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, resolving scheduling conflicts and implementing corrective actions to address any delays or issues.
  • Optimise resource allocation, documenting and adjusting plans to accommodate changes in scope or client needs while maintaining efficiency.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and mitigation planning to ensure project continuity and safety.
  • Support the sales team with technical input during proposal preparation, including technical presentations and client consultations.

Required Skills – Technical Knowledge, Communication & Selling Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical engineering principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear interaction with clients, colleagues, and team members at all levels.
  • Demonstrated selling skills, especially in explaining technical concepts and presenting project solutions to clients.
  • Proficiency in project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard engineering tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts fluently.

Qualifications & Experience – Mechanical Planning Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in planning, scheduling, or coordination roles within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with modern project management methodologies and tools.
  • A track record of working collaboratively in cross-functional environments.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Organised and detail-oriented with an analytical mindset towards continuous improvement.
