Responsibilities

  • Review and dispense physician prescriptions with a focus on accuracy and safety.
  • Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medication use, dosage, and side effects.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, inclusive of medication histories and allergies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and returning expired medications.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient medication regimens.
  • Educate patients and healthcare providers on the latest pharmaceutical products.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Participate in pharmacy-related research and continuous professional education.
  • Identify and report potential medication errors or adverse drug reactions promptly.
  • Promote health and wellness programs, including immunizations and health screenings.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient adherence to prescribed therapies.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • State licensure as a practicing pharmacist in good standing is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of drug interactions and pharmacology is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to assist diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to multitask and manage a busy workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and electronic health record systems.
