Responsibilities

  • Interpret and accurately fill prescriptions dispensed by licensed healthcare practitioners.
  • Assess the appropriateness of prescribed medications, ensuring safe and effective therapeutic outcomes.
  • Provide detailed patient education regarding dosage, side effects, and storage of medications.
  • Monitor patient medication therapies for drug interactions or contraindications.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of pharmaceutical and related medical supplies.
  • Ensure all prescriptions and transactions comply with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Guide pharmacy technicians and interns in fulfilling their duties efficiently.
  • Maintain meticulous records for all controlled substances and other medications dispensed.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to manage treatment plans and optimize patient care.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks to maintain the highest standards in pharmacy operations.
  • Participate in the development of pharmacy policies and improvement of pharmaceutical services.
  • Stay informed about new medications, advancements, and market trends in pharmaceutical care.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and active pharmacy license in the state of practice is mandatory.
  • Excellent knowledge of drug indications, dosage administration, and pharmacology.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and inter-professional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced pharmaceutical environment.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred but not essential.
