Responsibilities

• Operate and manage heart-lung machines during cardiovascular surgery and other critical procedures.
• Monitor the patient's physiological status and adjust perfusion parameters as necessary to maintain stability.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and execute the best plan for patient perfusion care.
• Prepare and maintain the perfusion equipment, ensuring it is sterilized and functional before surgery.
• Administer and regulate blood products, anesthetic, and other therapeutic agents as needed.
• Continuously record and analyze patient data during procedures to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and take corrective measures to stabilize the patient when required.
• Educate patients and their families about the perfusion process and post-operative care requirements.
• Conduct regular equipment maintenance checks and troubleshooting to prevent malfunctions.
• Participate in research activities to improve perfusion techniques and patient outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards within the operation theater.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior perfusionists and other healthcare staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in perfusion science or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in clinical perfusion practices or cardiac operating settings.
• Strong understanding of cardiopulmonary bypass anatomy, physiology, and technology usage.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret patient data accurately under pressure.
• Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with a multidisciplinary surgical team.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to upholding medical safety and ethical standards.
