Job Description

The Payroll Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the payroll department and ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services. This position requires an individual who is well-versed in payroll laws and regulations, as well as someone who can effectively manage and develop a team of payroll professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating payroll functions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and driving improvements in payroll processes. A Payroll Supervisor must possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The position also necessitates collaboration with other departments to ensure optimal operational efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the payroll department and its staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee payroll and related transactions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain payroll policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure employee data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international payroll laws and regulations.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify inefficiencies or potential areas for process improvement.
  • Resolve discrepancies and answer questions related to payroll transactions and procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute various payroll reports to management and other departments as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive payroll-related information and records.
  • Coordinate with accounting on payroll journal entries and other financial issues.
  • Assist with audits and implement audit recommendations regarding payroll and related processes.
  • Provide training and development for payroll staff to ensure high performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field is required.
  • At least 3–5 years of payroll experience, with 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, procedures, and laws applicable in the industry.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and tools, such as ADP, Paychex, or Workday.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail with financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex payroll issues.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.
