Job Description

The Payroll Specialist 30J25 is a key member of the finance and human resources team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of payroll systems and regulations. The Payroll Specialist will handle the entire payroll process, from data entry to addressing discrepancies and answering employee inquiries. With the constant evolution of tax laws and payroll technologies, the Payroll Specialist must be adaptable and committed to continuous learning to maintain compliance and efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with various departments, offering insights into compensation structures and employee benefits.


Responsibilities

  • Accurate processing of company payroll on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.
  • Maintain and update payroll records to ensure all data is current and accurate.
  • Verify timekeeping records and resolve pay discrepancies as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local payroll laws.
  • Calculate payroll taxes and ensure timely submission of tax reports and payments.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries and provide excellent customer service to employees.
  • Collaborate with HR to update employee records and handle new hires or terminations.
  • Prepare and distribute various payroll reports to management as required.
  • Analyze payroll processes and identify areas for improvement or automation.
  • Collaborate with finance to reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with the annual audit by preparing reports and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all payroll information at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of payroll processing experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are necessary.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest confidentiality.
