Job Description

The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing the payroll operations within an organization. Ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time is central to this position. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the human resources department and various managers across different departments to ensure smooth payroll processing. Responsibilities

  • Process and manage company payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review and verify payroll data to ensure calculations are correct and lawful.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with HR and other departments to gather and update employee data.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records for auditing purposes.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently by collaborating with affected parties.
  • Prepare detailed payroll and financial reports for management evaluation.
  • Assist in researching payroll legislative changes and inform the team accordingly.
  • Implement and manage payroll software systems, ensuring they are up-to-date.
  • Handle queries and requests regarding payroll from employees and HR staff.
  • Participate in end-of-year payroll closing activities, including report generation.
  • Develop and document payroll procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a payroll processing role required.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and relevant legal regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required for payroll issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information.
