Job Description

As a Payroll Officer, you play a crucial role in ensuring that the employees of the organization are paid accurately and on time. You will be responsible for managing payroll processes, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. You will work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and implement strategies for process improvement. Your meticulous nature and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly will contribute to the overall efficiency and satisfaction of the workforce. This position demands strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex numerical data with accuracy and confidentiality.


Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at all times.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records such as earnings and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate with HR and finance departments to address discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare periodic payroll reports to assist in financial planning and auditing.
  • Manage payroll software and systems to streamline payroll processes.
  • Handle inquiries and resolve issues related to payroll and compensation.
  • Verify the accuracy of payroll data entered into the payroll system.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures to maintain integrity and compliance.
  • Stay updated with changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in administering benefits and deductions according to company policies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a payroll officer or similar role required.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and standards.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
