Job Description

As a Payroll Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our payroll operations meet legal and company standards. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a deep understanding of payroll processes, systems, and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with the HR and Finance departments to manage the compliance of the payroll function, focusing on accuracy and timeliness. This role demands a proactive approach to monitoring and auditing payroll processes, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing changes to ensure compliance with legal regulations and company policies. Your expertise will be crucial in safeguarding the organization against risks related to non-compliance and ensuring that employees are compensated fairly and on time.


Responsibilities 

  • Ensure company payroll processes align with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll transactions to detect any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR to update and maintain payroll policies and procedures.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management promptly.
  • Prepare and submit accurate payroll tax reports on a timely basis.
  • Monitor changes in payroll laws and adapt company practices accordingly.
  • Train and support payroll staff on compliance topics and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee payroll data at all times.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify compliance risks and improvement areas.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure payroll processes meet compliance standards.
  • Maintain systematic records of payroll compliance activities for auditing.
  • Assist in the implementation of new payroll systems and technology upgrades.


Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in payroll processing or compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse teams.
