Job Description

A Patient Coordinator plays a crucial role in healthcare settings, acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff to ensure a seamless and efficient experience for patients receiving care. This role is vital in enhancing patient satisfaction and ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare facilities. The patient coordinator is responsible for various administrative and customer service duties, ranging from scheduling appointments and managing patient records to understanding insurance coverage and handling patient inquiries. Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage patient appointments, ensuring optimal slots for patient convenience.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment plans and medical inquiries.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure patient care is comprehensive and continuous.
  • Handle patient admissions and discharges smoothly to enhance their overall experience.
  • Explain insurance benefits and coverage details to patients to ensure transparency.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of patient billing and invoices as needed.
  • Develop relationships to provide a welcoming atmosphere, enhancing patient satisfaction.
  • Manage and resolve patient complaints and issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate specialty care appointments and follow-ups with external healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, policies, and regulations in all administrative processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest healthcare protocols to facilitate accurate patient information dissemination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a healthcare or medical setting will be an advantage.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and general office management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with medical professionals and healthcare staff.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing patient records and appointments.
