Job Description

The Patient Coordinator is an essential part of a healthcare team, serving as the liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. This role requires a compassionate individual who is adept at managing multiple tasks while maintaining a welcoming and empathetic demeanor. As a Patient Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that patients have a smooth and positive experience during their healthcare journey. Responsibilities

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal time management for providers.
  • Greet and check in patients, handling their queries with professionalism and empathy.
  • Coordinate communication between patients and healthcare teams to facilitate smooth interactions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring all documentation is completed and up-to-date.
  • Assist patients in understanding doctors’ orders and treatment plans with clarity and sensitivity.
  • Manage patient referrals to specialists and arrange necessary follow-up appointments.
  • Process insurance claims and verify patient coverage with various health insurance plans.
  • Collect copayments and manage billing inquiries in a tactful manner.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards.
  • Provide administrative support to the medical team as required for efficient operation.
  • Collect patient feedback to continuously improve service delivery and satisfaction.
  • Organize and participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferably with relevant medical office training.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient interaction.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare-related software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and office procedures is advantageous.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused, with a high degree of professionalism and empathy.
