Job Description

The role of a Patient Coordinator is vital in ensuring that healthcare facilities run smoothly and efficiently by managing patient interactions and the administrative process. As the first point of contact, the Patient Coordinator plays a crucial role in patient satisfaction by providing outstanding customer service. This position requires excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The Patient Coordinator is responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can multitask and use healthcare management systems effectively to provide a seamless experience for patients from check-in to departure.


Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar efficiently.
  • Verify patient information and update records accurately using the medical database.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless delivery of patient services.
  • Assist in managing patient inquiries and complaints, solving them promptly.
  • Provide information to patients regarding clinic policies, procedures, and services.
  • Ensure patient forms are completed and consent forms are signed and filed correctly.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies to verify patient coverage and claims.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information in compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare patient charts for appointments and ensure they are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Communicate test results and follow-up procedures to patients as instructed by physicians.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and organized patient waiting area and front desk.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college education preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting as a coordinator or similar role.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Proficient in using health management software and computer applications.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to healthcare privacy regulations.
  • Customer service-oriented with a compassionate and patient-focused mindset.
