Job Description

A pathologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the study of diseases and their effects on the human body. They play a crucial role in diagnosing diseases through the examination of tissues, cells, and organs. Pathologists work closely with other healthcare professionals to guide treatment decisions by providing accurate diagnostic information. Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Examine tissues, organs, cells, and bodily fluids microscopically.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
  • Conduct autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death when necessary.
  • Report findings of disease research to medical staff and healthcare professionals.
  • Develop protocols and procedures to enhance laboratory efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide expert opinions in clinical pathology, including hematology and microbiology.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on disease classification and diagnostic technologies.
  • Oversee and train laboratory staff and pathology residents.
  • Ensure compliance with medical and legal standards and regulations in pathology practices.
  • Engage in research to expand knowledge and contribute to medical advancements.
  • Prepare detailed reports of diagnostic findings and ensure proper documentation.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and board certification in pathology.
  • Minimum of 3 years of residency in pathology or related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and diagnostic skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration.
  • Commitment to continuous education and staying current with medical advancements.
  • License to practice medicine in the state of employment.
