Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive examinations of the visual system for patients of all ages.
  • Diagnose and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal disorders.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, optical aids, and appropriate medications as necessary.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
  • Offer education and advice on visual health maintenance and injury prevention.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals on complex cases.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and documentation for each visit.
  • Use specialized equipment to conduct visually precise tests and examinations.
  • Remain current on developments in optometry through continuous education and research.
  • Manage optical dispensary operations, including inventory and staffing oversight.
  • Engage with patients to discuss their vision health goals and individual needs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all interactions and procedures.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
  • Valid optometry license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Active AOA (American Optometric Association) or equivalent membership preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to care for diverse patient populations.
  • Proficient in using optometric instruments and vision testing devices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on patient-centered care.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
