Job Description

An Optical Technician, code 02J26, is a professional responsible for assisting in the preparation, maintenance, and repair of optical equipment and eyewear. Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs on damaged eyewear with precision and care.
  • Accurately measure clients' bridge and eye size for appropriate eyewear fit.
  • Operate and maintain optometric machinery and optical lab equipment safely.
  • Ensure all eyewear products comply with optical prescriptions and standards.
  • Provide detailed guidance on eyewear care and maintenance to customers.
  • Perform inspections on optical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Keep accurate records of optical dispensing and customer transactions.
  • Collaborate closely with optometrists to ensure customer satisfaction and care.
  • Stay updated with optical innovations and integrate them into daily processes.
  • Engage in stock management and order necessary supplies for the optical lab.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; further education in optics preferred.
  • Proven experience working in an optical lab or similar environment essential.
  • Strong technical skills in handling and repairing optical devices and eyewear.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with high levels of accuracy in optical measurements.
  • Basic computer proficiency for maintaining records and managing inventory.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals.
