Job Description

The Operations Manager – Cargo is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operations of cargo handling within an organization. This position demands a highly organized and efficient professional capable of ensuring smooth and timely delivery of cargo goods while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. You will be the critical link between the logistics department and various stakeholders, including clients, warehouse staff, and transportation teams. Your expertise will be crucial in driving operational excellence and identifying areas for continuous improvement. A successful Operations Manager – Cargo should have a strong background in logistics, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the cargo handling department to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards for cargo operations.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to streamline cargo transport processes.
  • Monitor inventory control to minimize losses and optimize space utilization.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and training for cargo handling staff.
  • Oversee budget and resources allocation to meet operational targets.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cargo service delivery.
  • Prepare and present reports on cargo operations metrics to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and transportation partners.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing and resolving cargo-related issues promptly.
  • Lead regular team meetings to communicate company goals and expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or related field.
  • At least five years of experience in cargo or logistics management.
  • Strong understanding of cargo handling processes and transportation logistics.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills to lead a diverse workforce.
  • Proficient in using logistics software and MS Office Suite for reporting tasks.
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders and teams.
  • Analytical skills to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
