Job Description

As an Operation Theatre Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals within the surgical environment. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre and equipment, ensuring surgical instruments are sterilized, and assisting during surgeries. This vital role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in critical and often time-sensitive situations. By ensuring that the operating room is prepared to strict standards, you contribute directly to positive surgical outcomes and patient safety. Your contributions not only facilitate the surgeons' work but also enhance overall team efficiency within the hospital setting.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating theatre for surgeries by sterilizing instruments and arranging equipment.
  • Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain adherence to aseptic techniques during surgical procedures at all times.
  • Ensure the availability and functionality of all necessary surgical equipment and tools.
  • Perform regular maintenance and quality checks on surgical instruments and machinery.
  • Coordinate closely with surgeons and nurses to optimize operative procedures.
  • Ensure patient safety through careful monitoring and prompt response to needs during surgery.
  • Assist with patient positioning, draping, and preparation under the guidance of the surgical team.
  • Document the details of the surgical procedure accurately and efficiently post-operation.
  • Manage inventory of surgical supplies, ensuring stock levels meet demand at all times.
  • Support post-operative care by cleaning and restocking the operating room for the next procedure.
  • Adhere to all hospital protocols and occupational safety guidelines during operations.

Requirements

  • Certification in Operation Theatre Technology or a related healthcare field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in an operating room environment.
  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures and aseptic techniques required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure in high-stress situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with surgical technical advances.
