Job Summary:


The Operation Theatre Manager plans and directs the day-to-day activities of the operating theatre. He is responsible for the smooth running of the unit and the integration of emergency cases. Capacity Utilization must be maximized, and personnel and material needs planned in a manner appropriate to requirements. Oversees the successful delivery of quality patient care, service excellence, and patient experience. Provides direct individualized patient care at an experienced Operation Theatre Technologist level as required.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide effective communication with team members and other departments to ensure an efficient service is maintained. Deputize for the Theatre Manager in their absence and responsibility for delivering the service daily and Assist the Operation Theatre Manager in achieving performance targets. Ensures adequate staffing levels and skill mix are maintained based on census and acuity.
  • Ensures that appropriate standard of care is developed and implemented based on Department policy.
  • Uses outcome driven data and Key Performance Indicators to drive and improve care.
  • Analyzes Patient Experience data to identify areas for improvement and works within the unit structure to reach targets.
  • Facilitates and supports safe, quality care at the bedside by providing exemplary direct patient care.
  • Actively facilitates the performance appraisal process. Provides feedback and coaching to improve performance, promote accountability and support the healthy work environment. Uses Just Culture to resolve any performance issues or patient care concerns.
  • Partners with the OT Manager, In-charges and unit-based committees to ensure appropriate orientation, competency and ability of all staff to provide safe, competent care.
  • Serves as a resource and positive role model/mentor to all staff. Supports and promotes NMC culture and encourages staff participation in shared decision-making.
  • Collaborates with the care team to adjust nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Actively participates in the growth and professional development of all staff by encouraging and supporting advancement through the clinical ladder, specialty certifications and supporting continuing education.
  • Ensures the care provided is consistent with the mission and goals of the system, meeting or exceeding quality outcomes and regulatory and financial goals.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team to identify and address operational problems and other barriers impeding care.
  • Share “on call rotation to provide assistance for emergency surgeries during other than the normal hours, i.e. nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintains awareness of safety hazards and takes necessary action to prevent accident.
  • Attends OT staff meeting on regular basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records and activities in the OT.
  • To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties


Education & Qualifications:


  • PUC, Diploma in operating theater technology or its equivalent is required. Programs duration 3 years. Training in medical terminology, Major subjects such as:
  • Basic concept in surgeries.
  • Operating procedures.
  • Fundamental of OR Technology.
  • Complete Anesthesia.
  • Pharmacology.
  • Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Microbiology and Bio Chemistry.
  • Sterilization Techniques.
  • Current license in country of origin with license to practice in Dubai, U.A.E.
  • Minimum 3 years surgical assistance experience in the main operating room and pre-operative area.
  • This position will consider an 8 hour to 12-hour shift.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous/ desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to adjust to group practice in an industrial environment.
