Job Description

An Offshore HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Advisor plays a critical role in managing and promoting health, safety, and environmental standards in offshore settings. This role involves ensuring compliance with industry regulations, overseeing safety protocols, and mitigating risks associated with offshore operations. The Offshore HSE Advisor works closely with the onsite team to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring that all safety practices are followed, and emergency procedures are in place. Their expertise and proactive approach help minimize incidents and enhance the health and safety awareness of all personnel involved in offshore activities.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures specific to offshore operations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards in offshore environments.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on proper safety and environmental practices.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with offshore teams to conduct emergency drills and readiness exercises regularly.
  • Investigate and report all accidents and incidents, determining root causes and preventive measures.
  • Facilitate communication between management and staff regarding health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Ensure all offshore equipment and tools are maintained in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Advise on the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials used offshore.
  • Review and approve contractor safety plans and performance metrics before initiation of offshore activities.
  • Maintain updated documentation and certifications related to offshore health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors during inspections and audits to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar HSE advisory role offshore.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Effective communication and training skills to support safety awareness initiatives.
  • Ability to work in challenging offshore environments, including adverse weather conditions.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and leading incident investigations offshore.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, OSHA, or similar recognized safety and health programs.
