Job Description
Coordinates and handles care for patients receiving treatment on an outpatient basis. Assesses patient needs, coordinates appointments, provides education and support to patients and their families, collaborates with healthcare providers, and ensures continuity of care throughout the treatment process.
Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with treatments.
Conducts comprehensive client assessments to collect functional, environmental, psycho-social, and health information as appropriate to assist in an optimal discharge plan.
Coordinates care plans and treatment schedules with other healthcare professionals.
Educates patients and their families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and side effects and provides emotional support.
Maintains accurate medical records and documentation of patient care, treatments, and outcomes, and effective communication with physicians, nursing staff, patients, families and others related to patient diagnosis.
Offers support and counselling to patients and families throughout the treatment process, including coping with emotional and physical challenges, and Participates in patient-related meetings.
Advocates for patients needs within the healthcare system, ensuring they receive appropriate care and resources.
Participates in clinical research trials and stays updated on the latest advancements in gastroenterology care.
Contributes to quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of care and patient outcomes.
Overlooks symptoms and its treatments, such as pain, nausea, and fatigue.
Engages in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices.
Participates in departmental goal setting and implementing/evaluating creative approaches to meeting goals
Provides the patients and relatives with a tour of the clinic.
Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of Infection control and pain management and reports and documents in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Performs additional duties as requested.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (minimum of three (3) years full-time course duration) or
Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) and Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
For UAE nationals graduates of UAE or non-UAE universities are exempted from the experience and clinical training requirements for the applied title. (UAE nationals must submit a copy of their birth certificate and the mother’s family book).
Non-UAE national graduates from UAE universities are required to successfully complete six (6) months of clinical training post-graduation in an APS health facility (except for Registered and assistant Nurse titles).
Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (where applicable).
Must hold a minimum of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Postgraduate degree in Nurse Management/Advanced Clinical Specialty preferred.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of recent post-graduate experience in the related specialty.
Knowledge of and ability to render care and services based on age, appropriateness and developmental needs of patients.
Skills in assessment of patient and familys physical and psychological needs.
Skills in coordination and planning of care and prioritizing care based on individual needs.
