Job Description

The Pacific Area Materials Management Department (MMD) is seeking an enthusiastic Purchasing Supervisor to lead and support the purchasing operations team in delivering essential goods and services to departments and Church leaders. This role oversees daily procurement activities, ensuring best‑practice processes and policies are followed and management is advised on procurement matters. The Purchasing Supervisor also manages team schedules, reviews purchasing activities, and helps select and evaluate providers to ensure operational needs are met. This is a permanent full‑time position based at the Pacific Area Office in Takapuna, New Zealand, reporting to the Area Purchasing Manager.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end purchasing operations and procurement of goods and services for designated countries in the Pacific Area.
• Supervise purchasing department personnel, including assignment of work, training and performance management
• Build and maintain reliable, cost‑efficient supply sources to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
• Maintain strong relationships with partner departments and suppliers
• Ensure comprehensive e-market catalogues are developed, regularly monitored and updated for accuracy
• Regularly report to the Area Purchasing Manager
• International travel, as required
  
  

• 6+ years of any combination of related experience, tertiary education or industry-recognised certification
• Work-related leadership experience
• Strong understanding and practical application of sound procurement principles
• Adept in Microsoft Office applications and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (English fluency is preferred) with a customer service attitude
• Demonstrated abilities in relationship building, influencing, negotiation and problem-solving
• High attention to detail with a strong sense of teamwork
