Job Description

An MRI Technologist 13N25 plays a pivotal role in the healthcare diagnostic process by operating Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners to capture detailed images of a patient's internal body structures. This position involves working closely with patients to ensure they are comfortable and informed about the procedures, as well as collaborating with radiologists to accurately interpret the results. A successful MRI Technologist must exhibit a strong understanding of MRI safety, anatomy, and the technology used in order to provide optimal imaging for diagnosis and treatment. This role often demands precision, patience, and empathy as technologists are reiteratively interacting with patients who may be anxious about the imaging process. Furthermore, exceptional troubleshooting skills are essential to swiftly tackle any technical issues that may arise during scans, thereby ensuring the smooth, timely operation of the MRI suite.


Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI equipment to capture clear, detailed images for medical diagnoses.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all patients during the MRI scanning process.
  • Maintain accurate records of each MRI procedure, noting any special observations.
  • Prepare patients for the procedure, explaining the process and answering questions.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure optimal scan quality and image clarity.
  • Apply radiation protection protocols to safeguard patients and staff from exposure.
  • Regularly inspect MRI machines and equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
  • Assist in the development of standard imaging protocols across MRI procedures.
  • Manage scheduling and workflow coordination to maximize department efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous education programs to stay updated on MRI advancements.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards in all job-related duties.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of new MRI technologist team members.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related healthcare field.
  • Certification in MRI technology by an accredited body is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in operating MRI technology effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient and colleague interaction.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning initiatives.
