Requirements:

Essential:

• Minimum five years’ relevant compliance experience, including meaningful responsibility for AML/CFT matters.
• Prior experience as an approved or nominated MLRO, Compliance Officer or equivalent regulated control-function holder in the UAE.
• Demonstrable experience working under VARA, DFSA, FSRA, CBUAE or another relevant UAE regulatory framework.
• Experience within a regulated financial institution, VASP/crypto exchange, payments firm, brokerage, bank or comparable financial-services business.
• Hands-on virtual-asset experience, including blockchain analytics, wallet risk, Travel Rule controls, custody, exchange operations and fiat on/off-ramp risks.
• Strong knowledge of UAE AML/CFT and sanctions requirements, goAML, FATF standards, CDD/EDD, customer risk assessment, transaction monitoring and suspicious transaction reporting.
• Strong familiarity with VARA rulebooks and licensing expectations.
• Experience developing or materially improving compliance policies, risk assessments, monitoring programmes and management information.
• Experience working within an international group and adapting global frameworks to local regulatory requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business, accounting, risk or a related discipline.
• Fluent written and spoken English, with the judgement and confidence to communicate directly with regulators, the Board and senior stakeholders.

Preferred:

• Direct VARA or UAE virtual-asset regulatory experience.
• Relevant professional qualification such as CAMS, ICA, CISI or an equivalent compliance/financial-crime certification.
• Arabic is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain WhiteBIT UAE’s compliance management system, regulatory obligations register, compliance monitoring programme and annual compliance plan.
• Develop and periodically review local policies and controls covering AML/CFT, sanctions and targeted financial sanctions, CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring, Travel Rule, market conduct, consumer protection, conflicts, complaints, outsourcing and regulatory reporting.
• Lead enterprise-wide and client-level AML/CFT risk assessments across customer, product, geographic, channel, transaction and virtual-asset risks.
• Oversee onboarding and ongoing monitoring for retail, corporate and institutional clients, including PEP, sanctions, adverse-media, source-of-funds and source-of-wealth reviews.
• Review escalated transaction-monitoring and blockchain-analytics alerts; determine reporting requirements and manage STR/SAR filings through goAML.
• Oversee Travel Rule compliance, counterparty VASP due diligence and the risk-based treatment of unhosted wallets, high-risk assets and anonymity-enhancing activity.
• Provide independent compliance advice and challenge on new products, partnerships, banking and custody arrangements, marketing and material operational changes.
• Report to the Board on control effectiveness, breaches, emerging risks, remediation and regulatory developments.
• Act as a key contact for VARA, the UAE FIU and other authorities, coordinating submissions, notifications, examinations, information requests and remediation.
• Deliver compliance and AML/CFT training; coordinate testing, audits and independent reviews; track findings through closure.
• Maintain complete regulatory records and support incident response, business continuity and regulatory notifications.
