Our Microbiology Lab Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all microbiological control programs at the laboratory meet the requirements of the QS 023 Microbiological Control standard. This role reports to the Plant Quality Manager. The primary focus is to provide direction for improving microbiological control in the laboratory and the entire site facility while ensuring data integrity and the validity of results. The Lead functions as an integral part of the Plant GMP and Quality Team, interfacing with Global and Divisional teams to implement programs and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Understands basic laboratory safety equipment and instructions, precautions in handling and disposing of biological materials, in accordance with local environmental regulations.
- Trains & develops the laboratory staff using the principles of Coaching & Feedback as well as the Competency Development Map for Microbiology.
- Sets up and administration of a laboratory quality assurance system that covers method and material qualification as well as equipment, calibration & maintenance.
- Maintains the laboratory quality control systems to assure validity of data. Ensure that the reporting of data and maintenance of records is documented.
- Ensures Data Integrity of the lab that the reporting of data and maintenance of records is documented.
- The interpretation of the data is correct and the results are effectively communicated to appropriate individuals,including management.
- Participates in appropriate internal audits and external audits (contract manufacturers & labs, suppliers, etc.) Function as part of the Plant & Quality Team.
- Interfaces with Global & Divisional Quality/Microbiology teams to provide input on programs, procedures and methods, and receive guidance & support on implementation of programs.
- Provides direction for improving microbiological control in the microbiology laboratory and the entire site facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related biological science, including at least four courses of significant coursework in Microbiology
- 3+ years of industrial and manufacturing experience in Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Food, or Environmental product production
- Experience in manufacturing lab work and plant floor controls
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.
- Understanding of the linkages and interdependencies between supply chain and demand chain KPIs.
- Previous experience as a Microbiologist from Manufacturing plants or Global Technology centers.
- Demonstrates the ability to apply continuous improvement tools to affect positive change
- Engages Site, Division and Manufacturing and Technology Management as necessary to provide appropriate leadership and resources to ensure full conformance to the Quality and Micro Control Standards.
- Creates and nurtures practical networks (with Supply Chain, Technology, Procurement, Legal & Regulatory departments) that foster teamwork and empowerment to strategically manage micro requirements.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary Range $96,800.00 - $121,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employees hire date within the calendar year).
