Job Description

A Merchandiser plays a crucial role in the retail industry, managing the stock levels and ensuring product displays attract customer interest and drive sales. Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with buyers and suppliers to negotiate contracts and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Analyzing sales performance data and trends to forecast future merchandising direction and promotions.
  • Identifying consumer preferences and buying habits to adjust merchandising strategies accordingly.
  • Coordinating with the marketing team to develop store promotional activities that enhance sales.
  • Maintaining an organized and appealing store environment through effective product presentation and displays.
  • Conducting regular store visits to ensure merchandising standards and guidelines are maintained consistently.
  • Providing training and support to store staff to increase product knowledge and merchandising skills.
  • Implementing markdowns efficiently to optimize turnover and minimize excess stock issues.
  • Preparing detailed reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and buying cycles for management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in retail merchandising, buying, or related roles in the retail sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to forecast sales trends and stock needs accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers, buyers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Creative flair for developing innovative merchandising strategies and attractive product displays.
  • Proficiency in using merchandising and inventory management software applications.
  • Ability to travel to different store locations for inspections, meetings, and merchandising activities.
