As an MEP Estimator, you play a crucial role in the construction and engineering industries, providing accurate estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects. Your expertise is integral in the preparation of detailed cost estimates, which aid in budgeting and planning stages of construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to collect and evaluate project specifications, blueprints, and related documents. Your ability to analyze these inputs and data leads to the development of precise and reliable estimates that are essential for securing contracts and ensuring that projects are financially viable. This position requires a keen understanding of the construction industry, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in specialized estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze project specifications and architectural drawings to determine scope.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers for accurate project assessment.
• Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time and materials required.
• Consult with contractors and subcontractors to discuss and formulate estimates.
• Develop estimates by conducting quantity takeoffs and leveraging estimating software tools.
• Maintain updated records of estimated and actual project costs and documentation.
• Analyze project bids and proposals to evaluate potential cost areas and alternatives.
• Update and maintain databases of cost and performance data for future reference.
• Assist in risk assessment and management for potential project cost variables.
• Communicate estimate details and methodologies effectively with stakeholders.
• Review and validate estimates to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an MEP Estimator or in a similar estimating role.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, Navisworks, or similar tools.
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to read and interpret blueprints effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders and teams.
• Knowledge of construction costs and procedures, especially MEP systems.
• Attention to detail and high level of organizational skills for documentation purposes.
