Job Description

An MEP Engineer plays a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of building systems, focusing on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining these systems to ensure they meet performance and safety standards. An MEP Engineer must possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams. Responsible for managing projects from inception to completion, the engineer aims to optimize efficiency while minimizing cost. MEP Engineers are vital in developing sustainable building practices and incorporating the latest technologies to enhance system reliability and functionality. They work closely with architects, builders, and other engineers to deliver high-quality construction projects that meet modern standards and client specifications.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and review mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system designs and layouts.
  • Collaborate with architects, builders, and contractors to integrate MEP systems effectively.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure work aligns with design specifications and standards.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues relating to MEP components and systems.
  • Prepare detailed documentation and progress reports for stakeholders and management.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure successful and timely completion.
  • Ensure all MEP installations comply with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve construction-related challenges.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate building materials and MEP equipment for projects.
  • Develop sustainable solutions and energy-efficient practices within MEP systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Participate in the procurement of materials, reviewing vendor offerings and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in MEP system design and implementation.
  • Professional engineering license or certification preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other MEP design and modeling software.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
