MEP Draftsman

The MEP Draftsman plays a crucial role in the construction industry by providing detailed design plans for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within buildings. This position requires a meticulous individual with a keen eye for detail, as well as substantial knowledge of MEP systems to ensure that all designs meet industry standards and client requirements. MEP Draftsmen must be proficient in using specialized software to create diagrams and blueprints that guide installation and fabrication processes. They work closely with engineers and project managers to bring constructions plans to life, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with all codes and regulations. MEP Draftsmen are integral in supporting the seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within any construction project.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed plans and schematics for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Utilize AutoCAD and other drafting software to create accurate technical drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers to understand design specifications.
• Review and modify designs to comply with best practices and client requirements.
• Ensure accuracy in dimensions, materials, finishes, and other system specifications.
• Integrate all MEP designs to ensure functional and spatial coordination.
• Support the preparation of project documentation and deliverables for submission.
• Attend on-site meetings as needed to verify project specifications and progress.
• Update designs based on new information, design changes, and client feedback.
• Maintain clear and organized records of all drafting outputs and revisions.
• Prepare 3D models to assist in the visualization of final installations.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure designs meet established standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
• Proven experience as a draftsman, specialized in MEP design and documentation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other drafting software tools.
• Strong understanding of building codes, MEP systems, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with project teams.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team-oriented environment and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and technical acumen.
