MEP Draftsman (225-704)

The MEP Draftsman is a key contributor to the project team responsible for the creation of detailed and accurate drawings for various construction projects. This role involves working closely with engineers and architects to translate their designs into technical drawings and schematics used in the installation and construction of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The MEP Draftsman must have a comprehensive understanding of MEP systems and a strong ability with drafting software. Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex engineering designs are crucial. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, proactive, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed MEP drawings in coordination with engineering and architectural teams.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and building codes relevant to MEP systems.
• Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers to identify and incorporate project-specific requirements into drawings.
• Ensure accuracy and quality of drawings by conducting thorough checks and revisions.
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D drawings for construction purposes.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the specification of materials and equipment.
• Interpret and apply design modifications and revisions during the drafting process.
• Participate in project meetings to offer insights on MEP system designs and implementations.
• Prepare drawing documentation for project approvals and construction teams.
• Ensure all drafts and designs adhere to safety and environmental policies.
• Manage and archive digital and hard copies of drawings for future reference.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an MEP Draftsman or in a similar drafting role within construction.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or Revit for drafting purposes.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and their layout.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
• Excellent attention to detail ensuring precision in all drafting tasks.
• Good communication skills for effective collaboration with engineering teams.
• Knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations affecting MEP systems.
• Degree or diploma in engineering, drafting, or related field preferred.
