Job Description

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Coordinator plays a crucial role in the construction industry by ensuring the successful integration and installation of MEP systems throughout construction projects. Tasked with overseeing the coordination of all MEP drawings and plans, this position requires in-depth knowledge of MEP systems, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong capability to manage multiple stakeholders and ensure that all parties adhere to project timelines. Working closely with architects, engineers, and contractors, the MEP Coordinator ensures that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of a project meet design specifications and comply with all building codes and standards. The role demands a proactive individual capable of foreseeing potential issues and implementing contingency plans to minimize project delays and maximize efficiency, resulting in the seamless delivery of construction projects.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing activities, ensuring synchronization in project plans.
  • Review MEP drawings and specifications to prevent conflicts and ensure feasibility.
  • Act as the primary liaison between MEP contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with MEP designs and safety standards.
  • Manage and reconcile changes or deviations in design in consultation with engineering teams.
  • Facilitate project meetings and communicate status reports related to MEP systems.
  • Develop detailed schedules for timely MEP installations and follow up with contractors.
  • Ensure all MEP work complies with the latest building codes and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the commissioning and testing of MEP systems before project handover.
  • Identify potential issues in MEP work and create mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source and secure quality MEP materials and equipment.
  • Prepare progress reports and presentations for project management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing MEP systems in construction projects.
  • Proven expertise in reading and interpreting MEP drawings and specifications.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant MEP software and AutoCAD for design coordination.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction safety practices and building regulations.
