Job Description

A Medical Receptionist serves as the front-line representative for healthcare facilities, playing a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and exceptional patient service. You will be the first point of contact for patients, responsible for greeting visitors, answering incoming calls, and managing administrative tasks that contribute to the efficient running of the practice. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and organizational skills, with a strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. By maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, you help to build a positive relationship between patients and healthcare providers, which is essential for patient satisfaction and retention. This position requires a candidate who is detail-oriented, compassionate, and well-versed in navigating healthcare systems and technology.


Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet patients as they enter the medical facility professionally.
  • Answer telephone calls, screen and direct calls effectively to appropriate staff.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments as required by the practice.
  • Verify patient insurance information and complete necessary documentation accurately.
  • Provide administrative support to doctors and medical staff as needed daily.
  • Manage and update patient records with the utmost confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Process patient payments and handle billing inquiries promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure the waiting and reception areas are tidy and presentable at all times.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, including emails and appointment reminders.
  • Assist in maintaining office supplies and assist in ordering necessary materials.
  • Resolve patient inquiries and complaints in a courteous and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education level as a minimum standard.
  • Proven experience as a receptionist or similar administrative position preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for this role.
  • Proficient in using computers and familiar with medical software applications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities in busy settings.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion at all times.
  • Compassionate demeanor and high level of professionalism when dealing with patients.
