Job Purpose

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hotel mechanical systems, with primary focus on motor/Pumps, HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems, including Heat cool pumps, AHUs, FCUs, split units, package units, and cold rooms.
  • Perform replacement and alignment of motors, blower bearings, fan bearings, and associated mechanical components.
  • Carry out heat pump and heating/cooling system maintenance, inspection, and basic performance checks.
  • Conduct motor and pump servicing, including dismantling, bearing replacement, lubrication, vibration checks, and reassembly.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems and perform timely corrective actions.
  • Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting, including control circuits, contactors, relays, overloads, sensors, and thermostats related to HVAC systems.
  • Ensure proper refrigerant handling, leak detection, pressure checks, and charging as required.
  • Respond to guest room and public area HVAC complaints promptly to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with other engineering team members during shutdowns, refurbishments, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, job logs, and reports as per hotel engineering standards.
  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

As a Mechanical Technician, We Expect From You

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in a luxury hotel engineering department, specifically in HVAC and refrigeration.
  • Strong practical knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical maintenance procedures.
  • Proven ability to replace motors, blower bearings, fan bearings, and service pumps.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical systems related to HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot heat pumps, cooling systems, motors, and pumps independently.
  • Physically fit and capable of handling mechanical tools and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or vocational certification in Mechanical, HVAC, or Refrigeration Engineering.
  • Experience with BMS monitoring and controls.
  • Familiarity with energy‑efficient systems and sustainability practices in hotels.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including night duties and emergency call‑outs.
