Job Description

The Mechanical Supervisor – Piping plays a crucial role in overseeing various piping projects, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations. This professional is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems. They must have a deep understanding of mechanical systems and be adept at problem-solving to address any issues that arise during the project. A successful candidate should be capable of managing teams, ensuring project deadlines are met, and maintaining budgetary constraints. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential, as the role involves collaboration with various stakeholders including engineers, workers, and clients. This position requires not only technical expertise but also the ability to ensure quality control and safety throughout the piping phase of construction or maintenance projects.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of piping installation crews to ensure project scope is met.
  • Monitor the progress of piping projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Enforce safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Review project specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with regulations and client expectations.
  • Liaise with project managers and engineers to resolve technical issues and improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality control of piping installations and repairs.
  • Schedule and organize work crews to optimize productivity and resource allocation.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and reports for evaluation and record-keeping purposes.
  • Coordinate the procurement and movement of materials necessary for piping projects.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure skill development and adherence to industry standards.
  • Assist in estimating project costs and prepare budgets in collaboration with upper management.
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings with stakeholders to track progress and address concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in piping or mechanical supervision roles.
  • Proven track record of managing pipefitting crews in large-scale projects successfully.
  • Strong understanding of piping and mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using project management software and tools for task tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness to work in various conditions including outdoor and high-stress environments.
