Job Description

James L Williams Middle East is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimation Engineer to join our Estimation team in the UAE.

This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for all projects, supporting tender submissions, conducting quantity take-offs, and ensuring commercial and technical compliance throughout the bidding process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender pricing for Mechanical services in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and client requirements.
  • Review MEP specifications, tender documents, drawings, BOQs, and contract requirements to determine project scope and pricing strategy.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs and validate technical and commercial aspects of estimates.
  • Analyze labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop competitive and profitable tender submissions.
  • Review take-offs and estimates for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, rate build-ups, and pricing schedules for tender submissions.
  • Raise technical and contractual queries with clients and consultants during the tendering stage.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation in line with client and consultant requirements.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost records, and market pricing information.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, and Project teams to ensure accurate project costing.
  • Support value engineering initiatives and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in MEP estimation and tendering.
  • Strong experience in preparing estimates for commercial, residential, hospitality, industrial, infrastructure, or Data Centre projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mechanical systems, MEP BOQs, quantity take-offs, and tender preparation.
  • Strong understanding of local suppliers, subcontractors, and UAE construction market pricing.
  • Experience reviewing contract documents, specifications, drawings, and scope requirements.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software/tools.
  • Experience in Data Centre and Mission Critical projects will be considered a strong advantage.
