Job Description

The Materials Manager is a crucial role within our company, responsible for overseeing the acquisition, distribution, and management of materials necessary for production and operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure materials are available as needed while optimizing costs. The Materials Manager will work closely with procurement, production, and warehousing teams to align materials supply with production schedules. The ideal candidate is someone who can efficiently manage inventory levels, develop materials strategies, and implement process improvements to enhance the supply chain's overall effectiveness. This position is also crucial in maintaining supplier relationships and negotiating contracts to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness for the organization. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for materials management to meet production needs.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent excess and shortages.
  • Collaborate with procurement to negotiate supplier contracts for optimal terms.
  • Coordinate with production to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials.
  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality of materials.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Analyze trends and adjust strategies to continuously improve materials management.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors for reliable supply.
  • Oversee the materials team, providing training and development opportunities.
  • Utilize inventory management software to monitor inventory and forecast needs.
  • Prepare reports on material status, performance, and inventory levels regularly.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in materials management, supply chain, or inventory control.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for logistics and supply challenges.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to ensure favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail for records management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to guide and develop staff.
