Job Description

As a Marine Electrician with designation 15J25, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the electrical systems aboard marine vessels are functioning at peak performance. This position requires a keen understanding of electrical engineering as it applies to the marine environment, where conditions can be challenging and complex. As a technical expert, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical components and systems, ensuring safety and efficiency at every turn. You must be adept at diagnosing issues, making quick, informed decisions, and working collaboratively with other marine professionals. This role is critical in supporting the ongoing operations and readiness of vessels, and requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and environmental standards.


Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain electrical and electronic systems on marine vessels.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Perform regular inspections and assessments of electrical components.
  • Collaborate with marine engineers to design electrical systems for new vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime electrical standards and safety regulations.
  • Document all repair and maintenance activities accurately for future reference.
  • Operate specialized electrical testing equipment and tools effectively.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues in challenging marine environments.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of apprentice marine electricians.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Marine Electrician or similar technical role.
  • Strong understanding of maritime electrical systems and schematics.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights safely.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and technical aptitude in diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations within the maritime industry.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Certification from a recognized authority in maritime electrical systems.
