Manual Tester (225-820)

A Manual Tester is a crucial member of the quality assurance and software development teams, responsible for ensuring that software applications operate smoothly and meet all client requirements before they are launched. Working closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers, the Manual Tester executes defined test cases to uncover any potential software bugs or issues in functionality, performance, and usability. This role is critical in assessing both the backend and frontend components of an application, ensuring that they function consistently and effectively. The Manual Tester documents any discovered discrepancies and collaborates with the wider team to rectify them, thus ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. Responsibilities

• Design and execute test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for software applications.
• Identify, log, and track software defects to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with developers and project teams to understand requirements and devise testing strategies.
• Evaluate software functionality and report any inconsistencies found during the testing process.
• Review and analyze system specifications to identify testing requirements and objectives.
• Execute manual test cases and document the outcomes in detailed test reports.
• Ensure that the software's user experience meets the specified design and functionality expectations.
• Conduct regression testing following code updates to ensure bug fixes and new features function correctly.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide status updates and highlight testing issues.
• Validate and verify that any software defects are correctly fixed and tested in a new build release.
• Continuously update skills and knowledge to remain on top of new testing tools and methodologies.
• Support automation efforts by identifying areas that could benefit from automated testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Manual Tester or similar role in software testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex software assessment.
• Familiarity with various testing methodologies like Agile and Waterfall.
• In-depth knowledge of software development processes and lifecycle management.
• Excellent attention to detail to identify even minor software glitches or inconsistencies.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases and test scripts.
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively relay testing insights and collaborate with team members.
