Overview Of The Role:

The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing tax compliance processes and activities within the Tax Tower, ensuring timely and effective delivery of tax compliance and reporting deliverables. This role supports the Tax Back-Office of the Al-Futtaim Group concerning tax operational matters, including Direct and Indirect Tax Returns preparations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including the Head of Tax Operations, Tax Accountants, businesses, service providers, and other tax professionals, to ensure compliance and efficiency. The role includes developing processes, integrating new tax requirements, providing training, and supporting audits and inquiries from Tax Authorities.

What You Will Do:

Tax Compliance

  • Keep track of tax compliance and reporting deadlines and deliverables by implementing Tax Tools as per the Groups Tax Operating Model.
  • Ensure Al-Futtaim Group companies are compliant with tax compliance and reporting obligations, preparing and filing returns accurately and timely.
  • Provide relevant tax technical, system, and process training to businesses and Tax Tower Accountants.
  • Ensure appropriate tax documentation is retained for compliance with local Tax Regulations.

Process Improvement

  • Create, automate, and improve templates for capturing information needed for reporting existing and new filing requirements.
  • Develop and improve on existing tax record to report processes to provide data efficiently and timely to stakeholders.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all relevant tax operational processes.
  • Integrate and support businesses with new tax registration requirements, incorporating these into the common working paper template and process.
  • Assist businesses in ensuring tax requirements for existing and new jurisdictions are properly captured in financial reporting and billing systems.

Audit and Enquiries Support

  • Assist businesses in responding to audits and inquiries from Tax Authorities.
  • Provide continuous support to Group Tax, businesses, and Tower Heads on process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the monthly preparation of VAT and WHT returns across different regions and process for submission to governing bodies and liability settlement.

Required Skills To Be Successful:

  • Proficient tax technical skills and analytical mindset.
  • Strong process orientation, organizational skills, and ability to identify gaps/risks in end-to-end tax processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with individual accountability.
  • Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, demonstrating personal integrity.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Tax, Finance or Accounting certification such as MBA, ACA, ACCA, CFA, or CIMA.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience within a large organization at a managerial level.
  • Regional and international tax knowledge, along with experience in process improvement methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, preferably SAP.
