The role is a forward-looking leadership role and requires strong partnership with business to drive and accelerate the Regulatory Compliance stewardship. This role is expected to support in providing RC advice, reviewing business initiatives IWPB with a focus on supporting the delivery of UAE Wealth Strategy and close risk and issue management for IWPB. Stewardship coverage includes RC risks associated with meeting our Regulatory duties to regulators, clients and other counterparties, as well as market conduct. The Role holder is required to understand the SCA and CBUAE regulatory requirements and remain up to speed with the rapidly evolving industrial and regulatory landscape impacting the function and the IWPB business. The job holder may be tasked with targeted responsibilities which can rotate frequently across Regulatory Compliance advisory function given working with a very dynamic Regulators, demanding business Wealth Strategy and covering different compliance risk taxonomies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support in reviewing any new/amended rules and regulations issued by UAE regulators to assess their applicability and change impact.
Responsibility and accountability for advice and guidance given to relevant business functions within IWPB managing all aspects of regulatory and reputational risk.
Support with the gap assessment of Compliance policy developments.
Monitor regulatory change programs requiring implementation and changes to country compliance policies.
Proactively assist in identifying and managing compliance risk.
Assess new retail and wealth product proposals.
Undertake regular reviews of relevant business Risk and Control assessments and issues management.
Provide periodic training to the business on UAE regulations and RC policies to achieve compliance.
Enable sustainable growth through compliant strategies ensuring initiatives meet regulatory expectations, Country risk appetites and target conduct outcomes.
Embed the HSBC Group Conduct framework and oversee the business performance against the target conduct outcomes and key performance indicators.
Support the IWPB Compliance risk stewards in provisioning of RC advice, challenge, and timely issues management.
Foster a collaborative and healthy working environment with Compliance stewards in countries.
Close and positive working relationship with respective businesses
Strong, persuasive personality with highest integrity standards required to cope with challenging business situations.
The job holder is required to support and navigate a large span of Compliance risk taxonomies that are subject to different operating models and regulatory demands.
The regulatory environment is rapidly developing influenced by evolving industry standards and geopolitical events. (e.g Fintech, Regtech,, Digital assets, Inclusion, etc..).Therefore, pro-activity and an innovative approach to risk management, strategic insights and continuous personal upskilling are key expectations
Working flexibly and responding to agile business demands balancing business opportunities with complex regulatory and policy requirements is an inherent expectation of the role
Balancing the increasing demands within existing resource parameters requires strong coordination, prioritization, and communication skills to deliver.
Effective analytical, written and personal communication skills when interacting all stakeholder levels, providing clear articulation of advice, analysis and recommendations.
Understanding of local regulatory requirements recognizing regulatory, , reputational and conduct risks
Experience & Qualifications
Graduation degree is REQUIRED– to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit
Preferably 5-8 years’ experience in Compliance functions with exposure to Regulatory Compliance, Business Conduct, Governance, risk and control management
Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
Strong understanding of Retail and Wealth business lines.
Proven analytical capabilities, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
The job holder must have commercial acumen and a broad understanding of regulatory and industry trends, as well as the competitive landscape ( eg – Digital, Conduct, Fraud.. etc)
Excellent command of written and oral English language, with Arabic being a plus.
