Job Purpose
The role of the Job Holder is to manage a team of underwriters and take key decisions related to individual applications of Customers applying for Retail Banking product of Mortgage, as defined in the Retail Credit Policy of the Bank.
Credit decisions are taken by the job holder on high value transactions as well as deviations, as per the delegation matrix of the Bank. The individual will have up to AED 10 mill of Credit delegation for Mortgage cases.
Job Accountabilities
Decision high value transactions and escalations from the team in compliance with the Retail Credit Policy of the Bank.
Decision deviations to the Credit Policy as per the defined deviations matrix of the Bank.
Evaluate and escalate cases to the proper authority as defined in the Credit Policy of the Retail Banking PPGs.
To guide, monitor, train and manage the underwriting team for the respective product. To ensure that the team takes decisions as per the laid down criteria of the Bank.
Ensure that the risk-based underwriting principles are being strictly followed by credit officers & Team Leader formulating credit decision
Zero error & no-rework across Consumer Credit Appraisal
Cross training of all Team Leaders and Credit Officers on Self-Employed Cases (Succession Planning)
Maintain constant high credit quality. Manage the Mortgage team for improving Retail Credit decision making / underwriting effectiveness, increase operational efficiency, optimizing resource utilization and capacity planning, increasing productivity, increasing customer lifetime value throughout retail banking group by way of continuous process improvements, re-engineering and major systems-based break-through in credit related areas.
Ensuring quality service to internal/external customers through adherence to agreed SLAs for processing cases. Adequate market knowledge of UAE property market.
To assist HORR in identifying and controlling the degree of risk and policy deviations by providing timely and accurate Credit parameters
Supporting all direct reporting staff in providing workable solutions for problems arising in day-to-day situations
Check and decision daily transactions efficiently within the approved policy and procedure and in accordance with the approved level of authorities.
Ensure completion of cases within prescribed TAT and full adherence to SLA with Business Group
Work closely with all Sales Channels to review reject and decline cases and identify areas of improvement, thus improving overall approval rate
Adherence to Operational Risk Guidelines
Full Compliance to all relevant policies and procedures governing Risk-based underwriting & ensure a minimum SATSIFACTORY INTERNAL AUDIT Rating. NO Adverse audit findings with HIGH-RISK Impact
Resolution of all audit findings within prescribed timeframe
Regular Meeting with Team Leader and Credit Officers to discuss work issues & other important relevant matters
Goals & Key Performance Indicators are clearly explained & well understood across Consumer Credit Appraisal. Conduct performance appraisal of team leaders, at least 2x a year
Objective assessment of training needs of Team Leaders & Credit Officers to further enhance job performance & recommendation of appropriate interventions including formal training, whenever necessary
Allocate work/ supervises develops and conducts the appraisal review of junior levels staff to enhance their capabilities and ensure the effectiveness of their performance
Effective implementation of productivity and performance management
Monthly assessment/ monitoring of the direct reports
Requirements:
Qualifications
6 to 8 years solid Banking Experience including supervisory responsibilities, with at least 5 years in Retail Underwriting
Written and spoken English – Arabic preferred
Good understanding of banking operations, Bank policies, procedures, guidelines, statutory requirements, market conditions.
Extensive experience in Financial Analysis
Must have had decision authority on auto/ personal credit/ mortgage and Islamic Banking Credit (Murabaha/ Ijarah)
