Manager - Freight | MAF Retail | UAE Corporate Head Office

Role Summary

The Manager – Freight is responsible for managing all international and domestic freight operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods for the Retail Discount business. The role optimizes freight strategies across sea, air, and land transport while balancing cost, speed, and service levels. This position is critical to ensuring product availability in stores, minimizing logistics costs, and supporting the overall value proposition of the Retail Discount business.

ROLE Profile

  • Develop and manage freight strategies that ensure cost‑efficient, reliable, and flexible import and domestic flows.
  • Oversee daily freight operations, including booking, scheduling, and tracking shipments across sea, air, and land.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics partners, ensuring compliance with contracts and service levels.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with customs regulations, trade laws, and internal policies, while coordinating clearance activities with brokers.
  • Monitor freight costs versus budget, track key KPIs, and analyze data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Commercial, Operations, Finance, and IT teams to align freight plans with business needs and improve visibility.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and technological solutions to enhance freight efficiency and performance.
  • Lead sustainability, optimization, and best‑practice initiatives to improve load utilization and reduce environmental impact in freight operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field (professional certifications such as CILT, FIATA, or APICS are preferred).
  • 7–10 years of experience in freight, logistics, or supply chain management, including at least 3–4 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong background in retail, FMCG, or discount/value retail operations.
  • Proven experience managing international freight and customs processes within the Middle East region.
  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding customs clearance, transport networks, and vendor negotiation.
  • Proficiency in logistics systems and MS Office, with analytical problem‑solving abilities and the resilience to work in a fast‑paced environment.
