The successful candidate will lead the Master Data Management (MDM) function as a Centre of Excellence, setting strategic and tactical direction for data governance, service delivery, process optimisation and transformation across the Emirates Group. They will establish and embed global standards, governance frameworks and control mechanisms to ensure data quality, integrity, compliance and security across multiple finance systems and master data domains.

The role will act as the Group authority for finance master data governance, ensuring robust controls, approval frameworks, stewardship practices and compliance requirements are consistently applied. The successful candidate will oversee master data operations, drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives, and ensure delivery against agreed service levels, governance standards and regulatory obligations.

The role will also lead master data readiness for major transformation programmes, including ERP implementations, data migrations and operating model changes, ensuring clean, controlled and future-ready data. Acting as the primary subject matter expert and final point of escalation for complex master data issues, the successful candidate will provide strategic guidance on governance matters, resolve cross-functional conflicts and foster a culture of accountability, compliance and operational excellence.

In This Role, You Will

  • Implement the Master Data Management strategy, translating vision into measurable initiatives across processes, systems and governance frameworks. Drive collaboration with senior stakeholders to position MDM as a Centre of Excellence and enabler of digital transformation, ERP readiness, operational efficiency, compliance and business growth. Maintain the MDM operating model, governance framework and roadmap aligned to business, finance and technology strategies.
  • Establish and oversee standardised onboarding, maintenance and governance processes for finance master data, ensuring accuracy, quality and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Define ownership, stewardship and governance standards across master data domains and systems, ensuring consistent application of controls and accountability throughout the data lifecycle. Ensure service delivery meets agreed SLAs, quality standards and business expectations.
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks covering the creation, amendment, approval, monitoring and retirement of master data across all domains and systems. Define and enforce segregation of duties, approval authorities and validation controls to safeguard data integrity. Lead governance reviews, monitor control effectiveness and drive accountability through reporting and oversight. Act as custodian of MDM policies, standards and procedures, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and best practice.
  • Design and maintain internal controls governing master data creation, maintenance, approval, access and usage to safeguard organisational assets, financial information and regulatory compliance. Lead Internal Audit, External Audit and compliance reviews, ensuring timely remediation and sustainable closure of findings. Maintain SOPs aligned to governance requirements, best practice and evolving regulations.
  • Drive automation and technology-enabled solutions to optimise master data processes through self-service capabilities, workflow automation and standardised platforms. Continuously simplify, standardise and re-engineer processes to improve efficiency, strengthen controls and enhance stakeholder experience. Promote the adoption of digital solutions, analytics and emerging technologies to improve productivity, governance and service performance.
  • Lead master data readiness for ERP implementations, system migrations and transformation programmes, including data cleansing, enrichment, standardisation, validation, migration and cutover activities. Partner with Finance, Technology and business stakeholders to define future-state data structures, governance frameworks and operating models. Ensure governance, control and compliance requirements are embedded throughout all transformation activities and support post-implementation governance and data quality monitoring. Lead enterprise-wide adoption of master data governance changes through effective communication, training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex master data issues, balancing business needs with governance requirements. Build strong partnerships across Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Treasury, Technology and HR, and act as the final authority for interpreting master data policies, standards and controls.
  • Act as the organisation's authority on regulatory and governance requirements impacting master data. Provide strategic guidance to strengthen controls, modernise processes, embed best practices and ensure ongoing compliance. Serve as the recognised subject matter expert for finance master data governance across the Emirates Group.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Centre of Excellence team through coaching, performance management and capability development. Ensure delivery against agreed SLAs, KPIs and quality standards while fostering a culture of accountability, compliance and continuous improvement. Drive workforce planning, succession planning, talent development and resource optimisation to support future growth and transformation objectives.

Qualification

In order to be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold 10+ years of experience in Finance Management, Master Data Management, Governance / Compliance / Audit, Shared Services or Business Transformation.
  • Hold a BSc/MSc Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Management, Internal Audit or a related field.

You'll Have An Edge If You Have

  • A professional certification in data management, finance, governance or project management (e.g. CDMP, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, PMP, Lean Six Sigma) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a managerial role within a large multinational organisation.
  • Strong expertise in finance operations, governance, internal controls and master data management.
  • Proven experience across chart of accounts design and governance, supplier and customer master data, financial master structures, intercompany and consolidation frameworks, and end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Record-to-Report (R2R) processes.
  • Demonstrated success leading master data functions, Centres of Excellence, Shared Service operations or governance teams within complex multinational environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading transformation initiatives, standardising processes with strong controls, implementing automation and driving adoption of advanced technologies and best practices across diverse business units.
  • Proven experience supporting ERP implementations, data migration programmes, operating model transformations and post-implementation governance.
  • Experience managing service delivery against SLAs, KPIs and quality standards.
  • Significant experience designing and operating governance, risk and control frameworks within finance, shared services or master data environments.
  • Proven experience supporting Internal Audit, External Audit, compliance reviews and regulatory examinations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive organisational change.
