Job Description

The Manager- Engineering is responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction of the Engineering Department, ensuring alignment with company objectives and the OEM-driven business model. This role oversees all engineering activities, ensuring delivery of high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective solutions while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and customer-centric execution.

  • Define and execute the Engineering Department strategy aligned with overall business goals and OEM “plug-and-play” integration model, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and rapid deployment capabilities.
  • Establish departmental objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics for teams and individuals, with clear tracking mechanisms and periodic performance reviews.
  • Represent the Engineering function to senior management, OEMs, distributors, and international partners, effectively communicating technical direction, progress, and risks.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement through structured processes, training, and leadership engagement.
  • Oversee all engineering projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards through effective planning and governance.
  • Manage multiple parallel programs in high-pressure, fast-paced environments while maintaining prioritization and resource optimization.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical and execution challenges to meet program milestones, minimizing risks and delays.
  • Ensure all engineering processes, workflows, and procedures are efficient, standardized, and compliant with internal policies and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and automotive standards (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans) across all projects.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance across all engineering deliverables through audits and validation processes.
  • Oversee engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, ECNs, specifications, test reports) to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, distributors, suppliers, and global partners to support collaboration and business growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Design, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and executive leadership to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
  • Lead joint project execution with international stakeholders and group companies, ensuring clear communication and coordination across regions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop multicultural and multinational engineering teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Hire, train, and build engineering capabilities to meet current and future business needs, including succession planning and skill development.
  • Empower teams through a culture of responsibility, accountability, and customer focus, encouraging ownership at all levels.
  • Manage engineering budgets and ensure cost-effective project execution through careful planning and financial oversight.
  • Monitor project status, track progress against milestones, and report to senior management with clear insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure effective resource planning and allocation across programs to maximize efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Develop and implement engineering processes, procedures, and best practices to standardize operations and improve consistency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance using data-driven approaches.
  • Align engineering operations with the company’s OEM-after-OEM delivery model, emphasizing speed, simplicity, and repeatability.
  • Oversee the engineering process at each stage and milestone across all projects, ensuring visibility and control over project status.
  • Report regularly to management on project status, proactively resolve challenges, and hold full accountability for overall engineering department performance and outcomes.
  • Engage suppliers for prototyping, tooling, manufacturing, PPAP activities, testing, and technical problem resolution.
  • Support the development of a diversified manufacturing footprint beyond China through technical evaluations and supplier capability assessments.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree / Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or any engineering related course

Minimum Working Experience

Over All: [15 minimum] yrs. Automotive (Up Stream): [ 15] yrs.

Similar Position Minimum: [10] yrs.
