As the Manager Base Operations Delivery, you will manage critical resource allocation, maintenance delivery, continuous improvement, aircraft return to service and disposals ensuring they are acquitted to company, GCAA and other NAA requirements. Responsible for resource management by ensuring that sufficient personnel, tools, equipment and materials are available to acquit maintenance and satisfy GCAA CAR 145 requirements. This role is also responsible for the management of the DWC Maintenance teams performing aircraft dismantling (returning aircraft spare parts to the EKE stock). Responsible for identifying areas to increase staff productivity and in-house capabilities within Base Maintenance and Overhaul workshops by identifying capability gaps that enhance the ability to maximise working capital, reduce money going outside the company and reducing C check ground time.
In This Role, You Will
- Direct the resource management across entire department ensuring that all production areas have sufficient resources of applicably qualified personnel to acquit maintenance to GCAA, EASA and company standards. Manage all onsite contractors acquitting maintenance including but not limited to Airbus, Sabena Technics, STS, UUDS, Safran, GE On Wing Support and other contract maintenance personnel.
- Lead the budget build across all departments to ensure that all future equipment, resources, tooling, facilities, IT, vehicles, training etc. satisfy the 2 year Heavy Maintenance Plan (HMP) and ensure ongoing compliance with GCAA, EASA and Company requirements.
- Manage attendance, leave, training and employee technical qualification currency to ensure that sufficient staff of the correct qualifications are always available across Base Maintenance. Ensure that all contract staff qualifications meet EK Engineering standards and manage their on-site deployment across Base Maintenance.
- Independently lead the investigation into ASR/ESR reports/defects as well as defects on aircraft that have been released from Base Maintenance. Identify improvement importunities and implement across Base Maintenance. Perform MEDA investigations when required and ensure that staff awareness and training opportunities are identified, developed and deployed.
- Ensure that an accident and incident free environment for aircraft and personnel within Base Maintenance is achieved through visible safety leadership and establishment of safety systems in accordance with the SMS.
- Lead the DWC Base Maintenance Team both remotely and on-site to efficiently remove aircraft parts/assets and equipment ensuring that they are compliantly returned to the EKE stock of parts and that the retired aircraft are disposed of in a safe and compliant manner. Drive the remaining stored aircraft return to service (RTS) program to support the network growth of the airline safely and on time.
- Regularly review and monitor performance and standards through reliability reports, systematic meetings with stakeholders to ensure that maximum efficiency and production is achieved without compromising quality and reliability standards.
- Lead and manage on behalf of Base Maintenance personnel recruitment, promotion, training and development acting as a bridge between the business and HR/ Talent Acquisition.
- Lead, develop and mentor the team members by supervising, auditing work and ensuring that they have required trainings and development opportunities to improve their skills and performance. Ensure effective implementation of the National Trainee Programme and play an active role in their progress and allocation of work.
Qualification
To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree in Engineering (Aeronautical, Mechanical, Avionics, Electrical & Technical Engineering) or Holder of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence - GCAA/EASA Type Licence on EK fleet Type
- 10+ years experience in engineering
- Experience in commercial aviation Base/Line/Operational maintenance in leadership or management position.
- Familiarity with aircraft maintenance databases and information gathering/ reporting systems.
- A thorough working knowledge of all aspects of aircraft maintenance practices and procedures is essential. It is also necessary to be conversant with air legislation and legal matters that relate to the operation and maintenance of aircraft on an international basis.
- A full understanding of production planning and the task interdependencies within the Heavy Maintenance environment.
