As the Manager Aircraft Material Up-cycling will lead the development and implementation of agreed components of Emirates’ sustainability and environmental programme, including strategy, management systems, reporting processes and initiatives focused on end-of-life re-purposing and compliance to aviation regulations. Work collaboratively with other managers in the team and other business units to deliver this programme, identify risks and opportunities, implement best practice, and establish monitoring and reporting.
In This Role, You Will
Build a process to evaluate all aircraft materials disposal and establish re/up-cycling these materials into second life products that demonstrate Emirates commitment to Environmental corporate responsibility.
Lead cooperation with business units to identify environmental risks and opportunities, develop action plans, and implement monitoring and reporting processes, including for the Emirates Group Annual Report where required.
Monitor and analyse environmental and sustainability developments, advise Engineering management on the impact to Emirates, and develop policy positions and fact-based commentary for communications with an understanding of ISO14001.
Oversee the development and implementation of environmental management system (EMS) processes and documentation as applicable to Engineering.
Implement compliance programmes for EMS in partnership with relevant business units. Develop training material and internal communications to promote EMS within Engineering.
Coordination with relevant departments and contribute to industry efforts on environmental/sustainability policy issues. Lead development of Emirates’ Engineering environmental sustainability strategy and planning in coordination with EK Group Environment teams.
Develop and maintain sustainability standards for procurement and support other business units on sustainable procurement and promote a circular economy
Work with Facilities Management and other departments to implement sustainability processes in Emirates’ new and existing facilities. Pursue opportunities to meet EK group requirements through end-of-life aircraft components re-use and promote these events to showcase EK actions to meet its objectives.
Qualification
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a subject related to environmental management, sustainability, or engineering or an Aircraft Engineering Licence
10+ yrs experience in Aircraft/ Component/ Product design or maintenance/Environmental management.
You’ll Have An Edge If You Have
Knowledge of working in environmental management, sustainability.
Experience in product design and manufacture
Knowledge of raw material specifications, (re)usage, adaptation, conversion methods.
Technical and political understanding of local and global environmental and sustainability issues.
Experience in environmental waste management systems.
Technical knowledge of environmental issues, waste management in an aviation context would be an advantage.
Experience in project management and risk management.
Strong design and creative application thinking.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Strong skills in Word, excel and PowerPoint applications. Knowledge of Business intelligence tools would be an advantage.
