Job Description

The role of the Maintenance Assistant involves supporting the maintenance team in various tasks necessary to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of facilities and equipment. This position is vital for ensuring that all machinery and infrastructure work efficiently and effectively, helping prevent any potential breakdowns or operational delays. A Maintenance Assistant should be highly adaptable, taking on different responsibilities as needed and possessing a general understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. This role may require performing regular inspections, carrying out minor repairs, and assisting in larger maintenance projects. Responsibilities

  • Assist with regular maintenance checks to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • Support the maintenance team in conducting minor repairs and troubleshooting issues promptly.
  • Monitor maintenance tools and inventory, ensuring tools are maintained and supplies are stocked.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in maintenance areas and workshops at all times.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and report potential problems or hazards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate smooth resolution of maintenance-related concerns.
  • Participate in maintenance projects, providing assistance as directed by supervising staff.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately and update logs with relevant details.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to urgent maintenance requests as they arise.
  • Assist in training new team members on maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and report progress regularly to supervisors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required for this position.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and mechanical systems is essential.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or related role can be advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle minor repairs independently.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Capacity to follow instructions accurately and work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift or move heavy objects, adhering to safety guidelines when necessary.
