Job Description

A Logistics Officer plays a critical role in the planning, management, and coordination of the logistics department within an organization. They are responsible for ensuring that the supply chain operations run smoothly, efficiently, and economically. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to solve complex logistics and supply problems, and effective communication skills to negotiate with various departments and suppliers. Logistics Officers often work alongside other logistical and supply chain departments to optimize the transportation of goods and ensure inventory levels are managed effectively. They must stay updated on all logistics trends and technologies to implement current methods that enhance productivity. The position often demands meticulous attention to detail and an ability for forward-thinking to foresee potential disruptions in the supply chain.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to support organizational goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage the supply chain operations to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and demand forecasts to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international transportation and logistics regulations.
  • Implement and monitor performance metrics to improve logistics operations continually.
  • Facilitate the processing of orders and planning of shipments and deliveries.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks within the logistics chain to prevent disruptions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and processes.
  • Maintain logistics records and prepare reports for management review and evaluation.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify trends and develop more effective processes.
  • Lead and train logistics staff to enhance operational productivity and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Logistics Officer or similar role in logistics management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective logistics planning.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities for interacting with clients and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software and tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and leadership skills.
