Job Description

A Logistics Officer plays a pivotal role in the supply chain management of an organization, ensuring that every aspect of the logistics process is seamlessly integrated and efficiently executed. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and a strategic approach to problem-solving to coordinate the incoming and outgoing movements of goods, services, and supplies. The Logistics Officer will work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to guarantee that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at the lowest cost possible. Additionally, the officer will be responsible for monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand, and managing logistics-related financial transactions. With the evolution of modern logistics practices, this role also involves leveraging technology and software solutions to enhance operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end supply chain processes and procedures efficiently.
  • Develop and implement logistics plans and strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Maintain and optimize inventory levels to meet consumer demand and minimize costs.
  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Conduct regular audits of logistics operations to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify and troubleshoot any bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
  • Ensure transportation and delivery schedules are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Negotiate with service providers for better rates and terms of service.
  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast product demand and supply needs accurately.
  • Supervise and mentor junior logistics staff and provide necessary training and guidance.
  • Manage logistics-related finances including budgeting, billing, and cost control measures.
  • Leverage logistics software to track shipments, manage inventory, and enhance reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret logistics data and drive decision-making.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Proven ability to manage logistics operations within budget constraints effectively.
