Summary

A Light Vehicle Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and performance of cars and light-duty vehicles. This position involves inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, including routine servicing and troubleshooting issues. Using diagnostic tools and technical manuals, the mechanic identifies problems in engines, brakes, and electrical systems, conducts preventive maintenance, and replaces defective parts while adhering to safety standards. Success in this role requires technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Whether working independently or as part of a team, Light Vehicle Mechanics are committed to delivering high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

    • Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, brake repairs, engine tune-ups, suspension repairs, and transmission services.
    • Conduct vehicle inspections to identify required repairs or replacements.
    • Repair or replace defective parts, such as engines, gearboxes, clutches, brake systems, and suspension components.
    • Perform electrical troubleshooting for batteries, starters, alternators, and wiring systems.
    • Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently and in compliance with safety standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
    • Maintain a clean workshop and adhere to company safety procedures.
Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal technical training program or apprenticeship in light equipment mechanics is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic, with a demonstrated track record of successfully diagnosing and repairing light vehicles.
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems found in light vehicles.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment relevant to light vehicle maintenance and repair.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to work systematically to identify issues and implement solutions.
    • Physical fitness and dexterity to handle light vehicle components and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to team members and clients.
    • A valid drivers license and the ability to operate light vehicles for testing and diagnostics.
