Job Description
Ensure safe daily operations within the swimming pool areas by ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and fire prevention policies and procedures.
Undertake training of all time-lifesaving techniques and procedures with special attention to staff development, swimming abilities, stamina, strokes, and water awareness.
Attend immediately to guest needs; serious problems or situations must be reported directly to the Lifeguard Team Leader / Lifeguard Supervisor or Security Supervisor.
Strictly follow Lost and Found procedures.
Perform proper grooming at all times.
Attend training classes as per schedule.
Show full cooperation and respect within the team and other departments.
Be fully aware of daily activities and possess strong knowledge of all hotel facilities.
Work closely with other departments to ensure effective, customer-oriented operations.
Implement duties in line with Quality Standards and all Security, Health & Safety requirements and applicable legislation.
Carry out any duties assigned by the Security Manager.
Attend all departmental meetings.
Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
Ensure all pools are cleaned (07:00 – 07:00 hrs) on a daily basis and at such times when required.
Maintain a daily chlorine / pH reading logbook of pool water, with tests carried out at 08:00, 12:00, 16:00, and 19:30 hrs.
Ensure all surrounding pool areas are kept clean and all lounges, tables, umbrellas, and ashtrays are placed neatly at the start and end of each operational day and throughout the day.
Report any maintenance issues to the Engineering Department.
Be fully aware of current and future services offered by the hotel and provide suggestions for improvement, expansion, or creation of new services.
Report training needs to the supervisor or manager.
Assist the Entertainment Team when required in organizing activities for guests or corporate groups.
Ensure all lifesaving equipment is checked daily and placed in correct locations for ease of access.
Check all guest contact areas (toilets, showers, changing rooms, kids club, spa, etc.) to maintain high hygiene standards and report concerns for corrective action.
Assist in beach side operations as and when required.
Ensure sufficient towels are readily available at pool and beach towel counters throughout the day; soiled towels must be collected immediately as guests leave pool or beach areas, and lounges rearranged neatly by HK team.
Ensure broken or damaged furniture is removed immediately for repairs.
Foster good relationships with guests and other departments, handling member complaints and suggestions promptly and professionally.
Communicate effectively with guests to ensure satisfaction with recreational activities.
Ensure the highest priority is given to guest and member safety and security; remain attentive to guest actions and ensure rules and regulations are followed in areas of responsibility.
Ensure Emergency and Rescue Procedures are followed in the event of guest accidents or swimming difficulties.
Ensure guests are greeted politely and treated with the highest standards of service.
Report any noticeable variation in chemical control or pool water clarity immediately to the Recreation Supervisor/Manager and the Engineering Department.
Ensure swimming pool temperatures remain consistent and set at correct levels.
Inform the Lifeguard Supervisor and/or Security Supervisor of any valuables left in open areas and follow standard procedures when handling similar situations.
Adhere strictly to the Employee Handbook, Disciplinary Code, Rules, and Regulations.
Thoroughly familiarize oneself with the hotel’s emergency procedures and maintain readiness for any emergency.
Be familiar with all related company documentation, particularly relevant Quality Standards within the field of responsibility.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role; previous lifeguard experience in hotel, beach, pool, or waterpark environments preferred
Valid and approved Lifeguard Certification
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (including spine board and portable defibrillator)
Strong swimming ability with excellent endurance and speed
High level of alertness, vigilance, and sense of responsibility
Strong commitment to safety, guest service, and quality standards
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Additional Information
Flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by operational needs
Physically fit and able to perform rescues, extended standing, and outdoor duties in varying weather conditions
Demonstrates strong teamwork, discipline, and professionalism in high-pressure environments
Committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and guest satisfaction
Willing to participate in training, emergency drills, and continuous skills development
